Why is certainty so ineffective today?
Why do these arguments never get anywhere?
Why do you feel like crap after getting in a fb fight?
Because we are moving to spectrums.
Like gender for example.
We are realizing that we are all completely different. Our bodies and minds are wired differently and none of us are alike.
There is NO black and white. Only inconceivable amounts of grey.
We all create our own truth.
And if we all create our own truth… what does your certainty mean to anyone besides you?
Nothing.

This is what an enlightened friend of mine posted on FaceBook recently and boy did a couple people take offense! “Except there are only 2 genders ?,” and, “There are black and white immutable truths are surely as there is music and math. 1 + 1 will never equal 3 no matter how many people “believe” and say it does as their “truth” It is Natural Law. I highly recommend peeps study it. There are absolute truths which are immutable.” That last one was written by a devout Christian, the type that believes there is only ONE path to God. I’m pretty sure we all have one in our families. (Maybe it’s you?)

The problem with these one size fits all type attitudes is that there’s no room for exploration or questioning! One of the great tenets of Buddhism is “Question everything!” I have not studied a ton of enlightened souls in history but it seems like they all pretty much say the same things, one of which is some form of you think you know everythig, but really you know nothing. As we grow spiritually we find truths that blow our mind and we think, “Eureka! This is it! The heart of it the the Ultimate Truth!” And then, we get blown away by another Truth that makes the last Truth seem like child’s play! This goes on and on and on until you eventually have to come to terms with the fact that you know nothing and you know everything! Perhaps if you take a look back at the path you’ve travelled through all these insights you find that it was a path not so linear, not so black and white, and full of discoveries you would not have been exposed to if you had followed the straight and narrow path of the prevailing religious attitude!

And who knows, maybe all those people who keep throwing Truths in your face that don’t fit on your path are being put there by God/dess who wants you to step off this path just a little because s/he has something else planned for you that is going to bring forth so much light and love that you will wonder why you didn’t stray from that stupid path long ago. The most growth I’ve ever done in my life has been during times where I was insanely uncomfortable. Options became visible to me that I had never- could not even see before!

Many are the pathways to Truth!

We all have our own paths that live within each of us! That path is perfect! It is the ONE true path… for us! And no one else can ever know for sure where we have been on our path or where that path will lead us or even how fast we may travel! You can force people to travel your path and perhaps some will be able to walk alongside you but others will find your path unfullfilling or lacking in some way or maybe even too much for them! The ones who do walk with you may soon discover that they need to move in a different direction in order to complete their path to Truth. No matter how much you berate them and shame them for not doing it your way, likely they will go on alone and discover many other Truths not possible to discover on your path. These were the Truths they needed in their lives, as your Truths are the ones you need in yours! If you do not approve of the paths of others, worry not! Truth will go on with or without you!

One last thing, people who do not walk your same path are both against you, and with you! They are with you in the outwardly respect in that you may all be walking towards Love and Light and Enlightenment and Universal truth and all that, but they are also against you in that their personal Truth or ways do not work with what you are personally needing to achive within you. This idea works both ways! Two seemingly contrasting Truths coexisting side by side neither being diminished by the other! Just when you think you know it all, something happens and you realize you know nothing!
